CHOC LIT AND SOUNDINGS REACH DEAL TO CO-BRAND AND RELEASE AUDIO BOOKS FOR CHOC LIT AND RUBY FICTION!
Choc Lit, the multi award-winning women’s fiction publisher, and Soundings, the unabridged audiobook publisher which is part of the Ulverscroft Group, have reached a deal to co-brand audiobooks.
The deal will see Soundings record all of Choc Lit’s publications at their Whitley Bay studios in line with Choc Lit’s digital ebook and paperback releases.
‘We were driven by the need to maintain the Choc Lit brand and quality when reaching the deal with Soundings,’ Lyn Vernham, Choc Lit’s Managing Director said. ‘Audiobooks are becoming increasingly more important as reading habits change with the daily demands and distractions made on time from other media. We are determined to be at the forefront of this change – for the brand, our authors, and our readers.
We’ve been very impressed with Soundings and are confident that the two brands can work together to produce the very best in audiobooks.’
Manager at Soundings, Gillian Bell, said, ‘We’re looking forward to working with Choc Lit and bringing their fabulous range of titles to audio. This will, without a doubt, strengthen our romance genre.’
Soundings release twelve audiobooks per month, including titles from family saga favourite Katie Flynn to the British Library Crime Classics. It is envisaged that they will produce three books per month with Choc Lit and their Ruby Fiction imprint.
Spending on audiobooks has more than doubled since 2013, jumping from £12M to £31M in 2017, according to figures released by the Publishers Association.
A recent UCL Study, backed by Audible, showed audiobooks are more ’emotionally engaging’ than even film and TV adaptation.
The first co-branded audiobooks will be released this month – Here Comes the Best Man by Angela Britnell and The Daughter of River Valley by Victoria Cornwall. They will be available to download worldwide from a range of platforms including Audible and Ulverscroft’s digital platform for libraries, uLIBRARY
