Synopsis

Who are the boys of Christmas?

Mattie Arden has just escaped from a toxic relationship so when, a few days before Christmas, she receives a letter informing her that she has inherited a house from her great aunt Millie, it’s a welcome distraction.

Except it comes with a strange proviso: if Mattie wants the house, she must fulfil Millie’s last wish and scatter her ashes over ‘the boys of Christmas’.

In the company of her best friend Toby, Mattie sets out for the seaside village of Christmas Steepleton in the hope of finding out the meaning of her aunt’s bizarre request.

Whilst there, a snowstorm leaves them stranded for Christmas, and still no nearer to finding ‘the boys’. But as the weather gives Mattie time to reflect, she realises the answer to the mystery might have been under her nose all along –and that’s not the only thing …

Available as an eBook novella on all the major platforms.

Absolutely perfect! This is my third Christmas read within as many weeks (all for review) and by far the best. But then what else would you expect from Jane? I’ve always loved her books for her humour, her observations and, of course, for the memorable characters she creates.

Mattie’s receives an early Christmas gift. Her Great Aunt Millie has died and left her a house in Dorset. The only proviso is that she scatters her ashes over the Boys of Christmas in memory of her lost love. Mattie is currently in hiding with her best friend Toby, having just escaped from thoroughly obnoxious control freak Simon.
Travelling to Dorset the two find the house but are caught in a blizzard which cuts off the nearby town of Christmas Steepleton. Venturing out the next day in search of clues as to who the mysterious ‘Boys of Christmas’ might be, the pair run into Patrick and Kieran, two cold and damp archaeologists sheltering in a tent. Inviting them back to share the cottage over Christmas the two make themselves useful, getting the heating and hot water going and bringing in extra supplies. As the search for the elusive ‘boys’ continues everything looks set for a cozy Christmas…and then Simon turns up.

A great Christmas read and one that should not be missed!
