Synopsis
It’s one thing to be asked to plan your sister’s wedding; it’s quite another when your sister is Nessa McCreadie …
Alfie McCreadie wants his twin sister Nessa to have the best wedding ever, but he’s not happy at being roped in as wedding planner – especially as, unbelievably, his main assistant seems to be Nessa’s cat, Schubert. Anyway, Alfie is a scientist. He might know his protons from his neutrons, but what does he know about weddings?
It’s Nessa who points him in the direction of Bea’s Garden, just outside Edinburgh, where he’s tasked with picking a “very-relevant-bouquet”. It’s there he meets Fae Brimham, who might be prettier than any bouquet bloom but doesn’t seem impressed by Alfie’s sensible, scientific side.
But when Nessa and Schubert are involved, surprises are bound to happen and, despite less-than-perfect first impressions, perhaps something new and beautiful can still blossom for Alfie and Fae …
Other books in series: Every Witch Way, A Little Bit of Christmas Magic , It Started with a Giggle, It Started with a Pirate and Bea’s Magical Summer Garden.
Kirsty Ferry
Kirsty Ferry is from the North East of England and lives there with her husband and son. She won the English Heritage/Belsay Hall National Creative Writing competition and has had articles and short stories published in various magazines. Her work also appears in several anthologies, incorporating such diverse themes as vampires, crime, angels and more.
Kirsty loves writing ghostly mysteries and interweaving fact and fiction. The research is almost as much fun as writing the book itself, and if she can add a wonderful setting and a dollop of history, that’s even better.
Her day job involves sharing a building with an eclectic collection of ghosts, which can often prove rather interesting.

I love Kirsty Ferry’s Schubert books and this is possibly my favourite yet. Schubert has to arrange a wedding and help in a burgeoning relationship too! Wonderful, wonderful characters and story line. A real delight from beginning to end. I lost myself in the story and the beautiful gardens, I really didn’t want the story to end and to come back to reality. Thank you Kirsty and I can’t wait until the next one.
Part of the Schubert series but can be read as a standalone novel.
Fae is a pharmacist specialising in natural medicine. She works at Bea’s Garden.
Fae meets Alfie (whose sister Nessa is getting married) & there is an instant attraction. Alfie has been sent to Bea’s Garden to pick up the flowers for Nessa’s upcoming wedding. Fae also meets Schubert the cat (Nessa has requested that both Alfie & Schubert organise the wedding).
Both Alfie & Fae notice strange ethereal things happening whenever they meet up and wonder if this is a sign.
I loved reading this book and I dare you not to imagine Schubert saying “mow wow” out loud. Lots of great characters, fun and chaos.
This is a stand alone story but the 5th in a series, if you haven’t already read the others once you’ve read this one you will hunt them out! I read this at one sitting, albeit quite a long one! A lovely, gentle romance in which the cat Schubert plays an extremely important role as a wedding attendant at his “owner’s ” special day. His help smooths the path of Alfie who has been given the job of organising his twin’s wedding. A job he undertakes under duress but with Schuberts help eventually succeeds in achieving. Romance abounds in a magical setting. A hot chocolate by your side and a bar of chocolate in your hand with this book will give a wet afternoon a splendid outcome.
A quirky light-hearted romance
For any reader who’s a fan of magic powers, mythical spirits and believe that cats are minds readers (of course they are), this is especially for you.
The McCreadie family seem to possess witchy powers,in this fifth book, Nessa and Ewan, from book one, are about to be married. Nessa has persuaded her twin brother, Alfie, to be her wedding planner, naturally he’ll be assisted by Schubert, Nessa’s almost human cat. Correction, Nessa’s actual instructions to Alfie is that he assists Schubert organise the wedding.
A scientist and a cat to successfully arrange a wedding. What could go possibly wrong.
Will Alfie be able to organise and tie all loose ends together, creating a perfect wedding day for Nessa and Ewan, or will it all end in chaos.
Thankfully Schubert is there to ensure that the wedding goes without a hitch.
Entertaining fun.
I settled down with great anticipation to enjoy a wander through this latest offering from Kirsty Ferry – her whimsical imagination seems boundless, and I am never disappointed. I always think that the sign of a good book is how vividly the author paints her pictures for the reader to see, and Kirsty can do this in just a couple of words – an example from this book is where she describes someone looking like ‘a startled dormouse’ – I can so see that expression on his face! I have again really enjoyed the journey, revisiting previous characters, meeting new ones etc. and can only say that I await the next book from whatever series, established or new, with impatience. Highly recommended as always.
