Synopsis
What do you do when your life becomes more dramatic than reality TV?
As the devoted carer for famous antique expert Harold Kershaw, Karrie Morgan was always happy to keep a professional distance from his four spoilt grown-up children, who rarely made time for their father. But then a surprise involving Harold’s Will means Karrie is flung headlong into a press scandal, and into the chaotic world of the surviving Kershaws.
With the support of her trusted childhood friend Andrew, mild-mannered Karrie must face down ruthless ice queen Portia, master manipulator Gabriel, Botox fanatic Arabella, and ladies’ man Rafe, star of reality TV show Raised in Richmond … although perhaps not as fake and flashy as he initially seems?
As vicious rumours circulate and Karrie’s past comes back to haunt her, she struggles to know who to trust. Can she keep up with the Kershaws’ schemes?

I love Helen’s books and this didn’t disappoint. A great read with a wonderful cast of characters. When Harold dies and leaves his carer, Karrie, his whole estate, the family are convinced that she must have tricked him into signing the will in her favour and suggest Rafe should marry her if necessary to get the family gold back. Is Karrie unreceptive to his charms or now that her only friend Andrew has found true love, is she ready to take a chance on love? Great book, great plot, a real page turner.
This story starts with the death of Karrie’s employer, Harold. As we learn more about Karrie, and in due course her best friend Andrew you feel a lot of sympathy with them both. The awful Kershaw siblings try to intimidate her after she inherits Harold’s estate and how she stands up to them is heartwarming. Throw a delicious reality star Rafe into the mix and you have a great story. Enjoy!
Loved this latest novel from the very talented Helen Buckley. Karrie is a sweet young lady who the powerful Kershaw family aims to destroy. Can she stand up to them, or resist the charms of the gorgeous star Rafe Kershaw, who is usually seen with glamorous models and actresses? Her best friend Andrew tries to support her whilst hiding his own secrets. A great read – highly recommend!
Karrie has unexpectedly come into an inheritance and has all of the problems that come with it. On top of that, she’s leaning on her childhood friend, Andrew, but the friendships is feeling like it might be something more.
This is a lovely story about a kind woman put into an impossible situation with the uncertainty of a friendship turning into love. Karrie’s adversaries are frustrating and a great catalyst for the story. Their rottenness is a great contrast to Karrie’s kindness.
This is the third book from this author that I’ve read. I enjoyed it and highly recommend!
One timid woman versus four scheming and determined siblings.
Karrie Morgan spent seven years as the devoted carer to wealthy art collector Harold Kershaw, after his death she was amazed to learn that Harold had changed his will and left her his fortune. Kerrie is named as the sole beneficiary. On hearing this, Harold’s four adult children are furious to discover they’re excluded from their father’s will, fully expecting to inherit his valuable estate. Together they connive to challenge their father’s wishes, employing any and every dirty trick to discredit Karrie.
With the media investigating Karrie’s past and constant aggression from the four siblings, Kerrie desperately calls for help from her old friend Andrew who she met long ago when they were teenagers living in care. Will goodhearted Karrie and Andrew, a junior solicitor, be able to stand up to the fury and determination of Harold’s four children.
