Synopsis

Sometimes the truth hurts …

When journalist Tess Johnson takes a job at Helix pharmaceuticals, she has a very specific motive. Tess has reason to believe the company is knowingly producing a potentially harmful drug and, if her suspicions are confirmed, she will stop at nothing to make sure the truth comes out.

Jim Knight is the president of research and development at Helix and is a force to be reckoned with. After a disastrous office affair he’s determined that nothing else will distract him from his vision for the company. Failure is simply not an option.

As Tess and Jim start working together, both have their reasons for wanting to ignore the sexual chemistry that fires between them. But chemistry, like most things in the world of science, isn’t always easy to control.

Available in paperback and as an eBook on all platforms. Paperback available from all good bookshops and online stores.

Kathryn Freeman

Kathryn Freeman portraitKathryn was born in Wallingford, England but has spent most of her life living in a village near Windsor. After studying pharmacy in Brighton she began her working life as a retail pharmacist. She quickly realised that trying to decipher doctor’s handwriting wasn’t for her and left to join the pharmaceutical industry where she spent twenty happy years working in medical communications. In 2011, backed by her family, she left the world of pharmaceutical science to begin life as a self-employed writer, juggling the two disciplines of medical writing and romance. Some days a racing heart is a medical condition, others it’s the reaction to a hunky hero…

With two teenage boys and a husband who asks every Valentine’s Day whether he has to bother buying a card again this year (yes, he does) the romance in her life is all in her head. Then again, her husband’s unstinting support of her career change goes to prove that love isn’t always about hearts and flowers – and heroes can come in many disguises.

Wow! This was a brilliant book! Full of love, doubt, suspicion and quite a lot of humour!

… The suspense and tension was kept up all the way through and I was quite exhausted by the time I reached the end. No spoilers so I won’t even say if I was happy with the end or not!

Loved it – in fact I have yet to find a Choc Lit book I don’t love!

…This is an exciting read and as Tess begins to unravel more information about Helix and its practices can she do the right thing or will her heart rule her head? Kathryn Freeman’s knowledge of the pharmaceutical world is evident throughout this book and the information about this world is delivered in an interesting way that is not overpowering. There is more than one type of chemistry going on in the lab though. The sexual chemistry and passion between Tess and Jim sparks off the page and sweeps the reader along with the intrigue and suspense. A great read!!!

…I really enjoyed this book, and found it quite impossible to put down – I was so involved in the story, and the romance at its heart was simply wonderful. I know Choc Lit’s tag line is “where heroes are like chocolate – irresistible”, but Jim Knight… he’s most definitely one of the best!

    I love this feel-good romance!

I am discovering that every single Choc Lit book goes in the re-readable category. This is another hit from Kathryn Freeman that provides laughter, tears (GOD, the tears! There is a spot in the book where it states that Tess is not crying, but *I* was.

…I will read this book again. And maybe again.

A very dynamic and enthralling read. The hero and heroine positively sizzle when together and their story is played out against the cut and thrust of business against pleasure. If you like your chocolate to have some bite then this is the read for you.

….I enjoyed Search for the Truth on many levels, it is a story that is exposed layer by layer as the characters become more involved and more attracted to each other. Tessa and Jim were complex people. Each had their reasons for fighting the attraction they felt, but eventually emotion wins over logic. Tessa’s internal battle with the need to know what happened to her mother against knowing what the discovery of her ultimate betrayal will mean to Jim is a painful joy to read. It is an intense story that I read in one sitting as the emotions and the tension became great enough that I simply had to know what the end would be without a break.

I would recommend this novel for any reader who enjoys a good love story, wants a richly detailed story that draws you in and won’t let you go until the final sentence.

Brilliant! Very hard to put this book down and when I did I kept thinking about what would happen next. A cleverly written book which describes the very real challenges within corporate life.

Another win for Kathryn Freeman and Choc Lit! ‘Search for the Truth’ was a sizzling storm of hidden secrets and desire.

….This is a beautiful story where there is conflict between the power of love and the power of truth, and Kathryn Freeman did it to perfection!
