Synopsis

A summer wedding, fifty cupcakes and a man she thought she would never see again …

When Joel Leicester walks into the hotel where Rosa Tempest works, she can’t believe her bad luck. Out of all the hotels in all of North Yorkshire, the man who broke her heart would have to walk into Carrick Park!

The last time Rosa saw Joel it was after a whirlwind holiday when they’d been greeted at his flat by a woman claiming to be his fiancée. Rosa never stuck around to hear Joel’s side of the story but now, six years later on, Fate has another trick up its sleeve as a potentially disastrous summer wedding at Carrick Park can only be saved by Joel and Rosa working together …

You may recognise Carrick Park from A Little Bit of Christmas Magic and Some Veil Did Fall!

Consumed in an evening along with a large portion of chocolate fudge cake! Well, needs must.

Rosa Tempest has many skills, but a lasting relationship does not appear to be one of them.  During a shift on reception at Carrick Park, fate intervenes and Rosa comes face to face with the last man who broke her heart. Joel Leicester is an advertising executive with a missing link in his otherwise seemingly perfect life. Finalising the arrangements for a wedding, he is surprised and delighted to find Rosa. A potential wedding disaster looms, can Rosa and Joel put their past behind them and collaborate to pacify Bridezilla?

I enjoyed reading about the Tempest girls and their wonderful godfathers at the bakery.  Kirsty brings to life the simplest but warmest of tales and for this, my second visit to Carrick Park, she embellishes it with cake, yum! A lovely setting and the first book I have read to include a Cornish holiday, various baking extravaganzas and a Dragon!  I will be seeking out Green Smoke!

    A quick sweet read!

A deliciously sweet, heart-warming romance. I love Kirsty’s books and this was no exception. We’re back at Carrick Park where Rosa, is now working six years after leaving Joel a little too prematurely, when who should walk in to her hotel?
With a failed marriage behind her Rosa isn’t going to hang around when she meets Joel’s fiancé. But six years later, she is the person to come to the rescue when the best man needs help, because the bride has forgotten to order a wedding cake. A lovely easy and a captivating read with great characters, locations and plot. I smiled throughout and couldn’t put it down, just wish I’d had a cup cake or two to go with my mug of tea. Thank you Kirsty for another lovely book.

Love cakes? This book is for you. Rosa is a cake maker who swears off men and takes up a job as receptionist at a hotel. Then a wedding throws up a past which she had tried to put behind her. Cupcakes and a wedding cake bring Rosa and Joel together in a revival of their earlier romance. A gorgeous story as sweet as the cakes it contains.

Lovely novella. Joel and Rosa fall in love but their relationship is destroyed by their pasts. Can they ever reconcile? With entertaining twists and turns, and with a backdrop of a country hotel and baking, this is a great summer read!

After an idyllic holiday in Cornwall, Joel and Rosa return home to Joel’s apartment to discover his fiancée waiting for him. Refusing to stay and listen to an explanation, Rosa leaves, making sure he cannot trace her. She’s been here before with two timing husband Jake and feels it’s time to give men a wide berth. Rosa’s love of all things baking gives her hope she can take over from her beloved godfather Donald when he retires from his bakery but the finances needed make it impossible.
Six years later she’s working at the Carrack House Hotel on the York Moors when Joel walks into her life once more. He’s best man at a wedding due to be held there and they have a crisis – no wedding cake! So it’s Rosa to the rescue.
A lovely feel good summer read about second chances and cupcakes. Thoroughly recommended.

Although I have visited Carrick Park before with the wonderful ‘little bit of Christmas magic’, this novella is a completely different visit there which is a clever modern twist to the fabulous Yorkshire Hotel.

The story centres around Rosa and Joel and a previous encounter they had which resurfaces years later when he is a guest at a wedding where Rosa works … and lots of cake, whats not to like!

Such a good read, you wont be disappointed, a real treat to celebrate Yorkshire Day!

Grab a deckchair, top up the Ice Tea and relax with this splendid little book from one of my favourite authors! This is another that didn’t disappoint, an engaging romance in a delectable setting – what more could you ask?
Rosa is a senior Receptionist at Carrick Park Hotel, Joel is a blast from her past – the one she peremptorily ditched without giving him a chance to explain. They are thrown together by the wedding of his friend, at the hotel, and a problem arises that Rosa and Joel can solve between them. Can she work past her issues? PS I’m now going to look for Green Smoke!
