AN INTRODUCTION FROM MEADOW THOMPSON

Briefly introduce yourself and your writing journey

Hello, my name is Meadow Thompson, and I write spicy adult contemporary romance books. My writing journey truly saved me. I was going through a tough time in my life, and I knew I had to find a creative outlet. The story came to me when I was listening to music in my car, and I knew I had to get writing.

What inspired you to write a romance that centres around ice hockey? Are you a fan yourself?

If I’m going to be honest, I saw a clip of hockey players warming up. Well, let’s just say that got the pulse racing. Instantly, I thought, Yep. My male characters need to be doing whatever that is. Also, I have a friend who used to be an ice hockey goalie, so me and him watch games together.

How important was it to you to include recognition for a heroine with PCOS?

Very. PCOS is something many women and I live with. It’s often ignored altogether, but in reality, it can affect someone's confidence, body image, fertility, mood, and the way a woman sees herself. Representation matters, and it's important to give it the respect it deserves.

What do you hope readers will gain from reading your series?

I want the series to be an escape and for them to know that sometimes the most beautiful chapters come after the hardest. My characters face hard times and make mistakes, just like all humans. If there’s one feeling I’d love readers to take away, it’s this: There is always a sun shining bright behind a dark cloud.

What are you currently reading?

Virginia Andrews, Petals on the Wind. It’s the second book in the Flowers in the Attic series. I have the original 1980’s cover, which makes me very happy.
