AN INTRODUCTION FROM KAI JUNIPER

Briefly introduce yourself and your writing journey to now

Hi! I’m Kai Juniper, and I write steamy contemporary romance books filled with drama and angst that often have an underlying mystery. 

I began my writing career as Allie Everhart, publishing new adult and adult contemporary romance. As my stories evolved to feature younger characters and darker themes, I created Kai Juniper to author my edgier, more suspenseful romances.

What inspired you to write about a school setting?

I love all the different dynamics that can arise in a school. There’s conflict among the staff, the students, and between the parents and teachers. Within those groups, you also have hierarchies that develop, which adds tension. Since Twisted Pine is an elite private school, the elements of power, wealth and privilege add another layer of depth to the story.

I see the school as another character, not just a setting. It brings a dark, ominous feel to the book and ties the characters together in a way that wouldn’t happen if the school didn’t exist.

What themes do you explore during Twisted Lies?

Love. Grief. Peer pressure. Bullying. Family Issues. Loneliness. 

What do readers have in store for the rest of the series? 

The relationship between Rumor and Jackson will grow deeper and get steamier. There will be shocking revelations about some of the characters. Tragedy will strike again. Rumor will learn a lot more about her family, things her mom never told her. A big reveal will provide answers about the “accidental” deaths.
